State-of-the Art ‘Hot-Rod’ Strat

People have been ‘hot-rodding’ Strats for over 40 years – as new technology and new materials become available, the state of the art moves forward. This instrument uses the finest materials currently available, with a design that creates a completely classic ‘vibe’, to offer you the perfected ‘Strat on 11’ experience.

The combination of a lightweight Swamp Ash body and a Roasted Maple/Pau Ferro neck gives this instrument a superbly complex ‘acoustic’ response, which comes through ‘loud and clear’ when played – the result is outstanding. The essential ‘neck-pickup Strat’ tone (perhaps the most important single sound on a Strat) is punchy, touch-sensitive and articulate, with all the chime and ‘clank’ that makes a great Strat so special. The bridge humbucker has just the right amount of midrange ‘bark’ and it’s hot, but doesn’t get mushy, even when overdriven hard.

Of course, all the technical ‘details’ are in place: the second-generation ‘SSCII’ hum-canceling system works perfectly (these Strat pickups have less hum than most humbuckers!); the Suhr locking tuners and Suhr-customized Gotoh vibrato- bridge stay in tune as well as anything this side of a ‘Floyd’, and the combination of stainless-steel frets and a compound-radius fingerboard produce a level of playability that a vintage Strat player can only dream of…

If you’re looking for a red, hot-rod Strat, look no further – you have found your guitar.

Suhr Custom Modern – Cherry Guthrie Govan

Suhr Custom Modern – Cherry Guthrie Govan

1SU_M_SN009_1FB

Sweet Mahogany ʻSnarlʼ

Hereʼs a very nice example of a ʻSeries IIʼ Guthrie Govan Signature model – the ʻAll Mahoganyʼ Set-Neck. Itʼs got all the real ʻGGʼ Signature features: special ʻGGʼ pickup- choice and wiring design – with Blower switch – and the Tremol-No vibrato-locking system. The sound is pure ʻGuthrieʼ; the unmistakeable ʻsnarlʼ of an all-Mahogany structure gives the perfect balance of ʻbiteʼ and fat midrange sweetness – itʼs still the most popular tone ever for Rock. But Wait! The special GG design gives amazing versatility – this is no ʻone-trickʼ Rock ʻnʼ Roll pony; this guitar can Do It All.

Not only that; this is a very collectable Suhr! Ultra-low serial number, ultra-rare finish- choice, a comfortable weight, and signed by Guthrie Govan himself! Not the factory ʻLaser Signatureʼ (although itʼs got that, too) – this is Guthrieʼs real ʻby-handʼ signature. Itʼs amazing – it looks just like the ʻlaserʼ copy….

Suhr Pro Series Guitars

The Pro Series guitars have taken the high-end “boutique” guitar market by storm, by offering the amazing Suhr quality and attention to detail for a very reasonable price. No corners are cut, in the process of producing a Pro Series guitar: the same superb woods, top-quality hardware, and the same hand-wound Suhr pickups are used on these instruments, to create a true ‘workhorse’ for professional musicians. Of course, the Plek fret-leveling is a standard feature on the Pro Series guitars, just as it is on Suhr’s Custom guitars.

By limiting finish-color choices (and limiting the additional options to stainless steel fret wire, and choosing a hard shell case in place of a gig bag), working musicians can expect to save hundreds of dollars on their ‘dream guitar’, with no compromises in materials or workmanship. If you’ve been looking for master-built “Custom Shop” workmanship and quality, without the hype and inflated price, the Pro Series delivers!

This Dingwall ABZ features a Indigoburst satin finished swamp ash body with a Wenge neck and fingerboard. Its passive electronics nail the traditional ash/maple tone and then some. It’s also the lightest weight of the entire Dingwall line.

When you add in the Custom Hipshot Tuners and Multi-Scale Bridge, Neutrik locking input jack,Dunlop Strap-Lok strap pins, counterbored headstock, 7.5″-16″ Compound Radius fretboard & smaller Banjo frets (ALL of which come on the much higher-priced Dingwall models).

Recording King RP1-626C

O size guitar with hard shell case

The Recording King Studio Series 12 Fret O Acoustic Guitar was developed in collaboration with guitarist and historian Eric Schoenberg. The RP1-626C model offers players the even frequency response, clarity and wider neck traditional to a classic parlor style, but the unique addition of a cutaway gives finger style guitarists easier access to the upper frets.

The one-piece mahogany neck with a classic v-profile meets the body at the 12-fret with a hand cut dovetail joint, giving these guitars a true small body sound, warm and rich, but perfectly balanced. The solid AAA Engelmann spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides have been carefully selected and hand-assembled.

With a 1-3/4″ nut width, Grover tuners, ebony fret board and ebony pyramid bridge, the O guitars are as well-appointed and unique as they are beautiful. Each guitar is sprayed with a thin coat of nitrocellulose lacquer and then hand-buffed for a finish that is extremely resonant and historically accurate. The RP1-626 model has Recording King’s lifetime warranty.

The sizes of guitars in this Studio Series are designated by the number of “O”s in their name. Starting with a single “O” for the smallest size and increasing to “OOO” for the largest.

More about the collaboration:
Eric Schoenberg’s influence on guitar marries traditional fingerstyle playing to classic ragtime and walking basslines. His Fingerpicking Beatles book is considered an essential text for modern fingerstyle players. Mr. Schoenberg prefers the 12-fret neck joint as it gives the guitars a gutsier voice.

Recording King Studio guitars illustrate the relentless pursuit of classic tone. No element has been overlooked in assembling one of the best sounding 12-Fret guitars available.

Each guitar is built with lighter bracing for more resonance, and the ebony pyramid bridge helps enable greater vibration from the hand-selected tops.

The Nitrocellulose lacquer finish is dried for 8 weeks in order to insure that the lacquer is properly bonded to the wood. Both the gloss and matte finishes allow the guitars to sing powerfully and clearly.

Recording King has built the ultimate in small-body guitars for the discerning player who is looking for supreme sound quality and excellence in construction.

THD Bi-Valve

THD Bi-Valve

4THD_BV_1

THD Bi-Valve

The THD BiValve Guitar Amp Head is a single-ended pure Class A design. However, it has two output valves that are wired in parallel and combined through a special output transformer to deliver up to around 30 watts. You can use almost any output valve you like without touching any kind of bias adjustment, and get this: in the BiValve you can use them in any combination as well. Combined with the capability to take almost any preamp valve, this makes the BiValve even more of an amp tweaker’s dream than its predecessor. Because there’s such a wide range of tone available, you create your own style.

The BiValve amplifier head sits in a compact well constructed pressed steel chassis. The control markings are screen printed, which makes them easier to see. Underneath the perforated steel lid there’s a larger pair of transformers to handle the increased output, and inside there are two ultra-thick PCBs: one for the power supply and one for the audio. The four valve bases are bolted to the chassis and secured by locking nuts, with hi-fi style internal baffle plates to cut down on radiated hum. The standard of construction is absolutely top class. THD are based in Seattle, which is also hometown to Boeing, and most of the BiValve’s heavy fabrication work is contracted out to local specialist companies who service the aircraft industry.

The front panel looks deceptively simple. Working from the left, there’s a pair of input jacks labeled “more” and “less”, followed by a treble cut switch then rotary controls for volume, treble, bass and what THD call “Attitude”. It’s not a fancy name for a presence control – there’s no negative feedback loop – instead Attitude works on the driver valve to change its response, and does more or less what the name suggests: either smoothing things out or making them more aggressive.

In the center, part of a clever noise reduction circuit, is a light bulb that glows as the amp distorts. Depending on your point of view it either looks very hip or very distracting, hence a small switch underneath to turn it off. Next to this is the level control for the Hot Plate – a built-in output attenuator that lets you run the THD BiValve into total meltdown without annoying the neighbors; there’s also a defeat switch for this function, which adds a little extra volume for live work.

The last three rocker switches are for mains, standby and power selection. The hi/lo power switch is like having a built-in Variac; switching to low voltage adds a squashy dynamic feel and reduces clean headroom, and it’s essential for valves like the 6V6, which can’t handle high plate voltages.

The BiValve’s back panel has a pair of speaker outlets with an impedance changer, and the excellent transformer-isolated line out – using a 6mm stereo jack socket – is balanced. Fuse protection is more comprehensive, and the BiValve also benefits from a pair of warning LEDs to let you know if a power valve is faulty.

When it comes to describing the BiValve amp’s sounds, it’s difficult to know where to start, or when to stop, for that matter. You can use almost any power and preamp valve combination under the sun, and as a result the tonal range is virtually unlimited.

Features

• 2 output valves of nearly any type in any combination allows incredibly diverse tone possibilities
• No bias adjustment necessary
• Rackmountable
• Top class construction
• 2 input jacks
• Controls: volume, treble, bass, attitude
• Switchable noise reduction light bulb

Top Hat – Portly Cadet

The Portly Cadet was the first release in TopHat’s Studio Series line of single-ended 5 watt amps.

The Portly Cadet provides lots of capability in a very portable package. The tube arrangement consists of a 12AX7 for the pre-amp, 6V6 for the output and a 5Y3 rectifier tube. It features one volume control and a switch for boost and bright functions. It is the perfect low power raunchy machine!
Top Hat added a “Boost” and “Bright” switch to enhance its flexibility as well as a custom 8″ speaker. The speaker was manufactured exclusively for TopHat.
The list price on the Portly Cadet 5-watt combo w/ 8″ speaker was $789.00 in 2001. This Portly Cadet is in time capsule condition for $525.

Top Hat – Prince Royale

TopHat’s second model in the Studio Series was the Prince Royale, featuring an EF86 pre-amp and EL84 power section. It is tube rectified with a 5Y3. It features one volume control and a switch for boost and bright functions.
The Prince Royale is the optimal amp for creating Vox-like chime in a 4-5 watt amp. The amp is based off a Vox AC4. It’s got a little bit of jangle, but mostly it’s just a 4 watt fire breather.
Obviously, it’s not going to reproduce AC-30 tone. However if you’ve ever heard a 60s non-top boost AC-15, you’re in the ballpark albeit at lower volumes.
Top Hat also added a “Boost” and “Bright” switch to enhance its flexibility as well as a custom 8″ speaker manufactured exclusively for TopHat.
The list price on the Prince Royale 4-watt combo was around $835.00 in 2001. This one is in mint condition for a price of $550.

Carl Martin – Compressor Limiter

Carl Martin – Compressor Limiter

5CM_CL_1

Carl Martin Compressor Limiter

New street price $319, our price$149
The Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter has been specially developed to incorporate the same features and sonic clarity found in high quality professional studio compressors. To achieve this they incorporated a variable threshold, -variable compression ratio, -variable attack and release controls and of course, a gain level.
General Guidelines on the use of the Compressor/Limiter:

Threshold:

Working anti clockwise, determines how much of the signal will be compressed. This is also dependent on how much signal is fed from the instrument.

Comp:

Working clockwise, determines how much compression is applied to the signal allowed by the threshold setting.

Resp:

Working clockwise, determines the attack/release times, going from slow to fast. In general, if you want to hear the compressor working with a crisp attack you should use slow times. If you require just a silent limiting you should use fast times.

Gain:

Working clockwise sets the overall gain.

Busy:

Indicates the amount of compression being applied, even in bypass mode. The brighter it gets, the more compression is being applied.

Carl Martin Compressor TremO’vibe

New street price $319, our price $149

The Carl Martin TremO´vibe is an analog “two in one” effect pedal consisting of a tremolo and a real vibrato, both with independent sets of speed and depth controls.
The tremolo effect works like a change in volume. The vibrato, which works as a change in tone (pitch modulation), is carefully designed to imitate the sound of a real tube vibrato.
Featuring two switches;
The “on” switch allows you to engage or bypass the unit.
The “select” switch allows you to switch between Tremolo and Vibrato.
The Carl Martin TremO´vibe is an excellent choice for Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, or any other electronic instrument, that requires the highest sonic clarity, maximum dynamic range and noise free performance.
The unit has a built in regulated power supply which enables a circuitry design of the highest quality with maximum headroom.

Used Fultone Standard Clyde Wah

Used Fultone Standard Clyde Wah

5F_CW_1

CLYDE Standard Wah

New $239 – Us $115
Clyde McCoy was a big-band Trumpet Player in the ’60s… not a great musician, but one famous for getting a muted “wah wah” sound. This led to Vox trying to approximate this muted trumpet sound in a pedal… hence the Vox “Clyde McCoy” wah wah circa 1967.

Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton both used a Vox “Clyde McCoy” model wah wah. Photos taken during the recording of “Electric Ladyland” document Jimi’s as being the “signature” model, featuring Clyde McCoy’s name written out script style on the bottom plate. The other type of Clyde McCoy was the “picture” version, which had Clyde’s photo on the bottomplate. The “signature” model, with its great sounding “halo” inductor, is what the Fulltone CLYDE is modeled after.

The Fulltone “CLYDE” was born from taking the best of the best of my more than 25 pc. vintage Vox wah collection, and analyzing every aspect… going so far as sacrificing a few of the vintage inductors to get it right.

Our Inductor is a tuned core hand-made unit using EXACTLY the same type wire and inductance as the ’60’s era Vox, except VERY consistent from one unit to the next. A tuned core inductor is much more expensive to make, but the end result is worth it. The only change from the original ’60’s Vox design is the addition of a very usable internal “Resonance Control” which is a large durable trimmer, for bass and gain adjustment, which is easily adjustable by hand without tools and with room to mark your favorite settings.

CLYDE Standard wahs (as well as the deluxe model) sport the most authentic ’60’s Vox type inductor available, which happens also the quietest… our hand-wound MuMetal shielded Fulltone 500mH inductor. And the long-life Fulltone-1 wah pot.

The Potentiometer, the most overlooked part of the circuit, is one of the keys to a good wah wah sound and there hasn’t been a proper “tapered” pot, since the ’60’s “Icar” in any major manufacturer’s wah. This is one of the reasons the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s wahs are so mediocre. We’ve made our own I call the Fullrange pot (… ours has a double screened carbon composition track giving a 500,000 turn life span instead of the standard industry 15,000.

I don’t like the original Vox-type housings that everyone uses, and I had to design and produce one that made more sense. The traditional housings don’t give enough travel and potentiometer range, limiting your tonal sweep, and they have little compensation for tension or feel. The Fulltone “Clyde” uses our own custom-made 14 ga. welded steel pedal with nylon pivot points and much more travel than the conventional Vox-style ones that everyone uses. It has nylok nuts so you can adjust the tension of the treadle, and it stays that way until you change it. As with all Fulltone pedals, the “Clyde” has true bypass switching so that when it’s “off” it’s not coloring your sound or ruining the performance of other pedals in your signal chain.

Nothing opens up new guitar vocabulary quite like modulation. Drenching your tone in tremolo, flange, rotary speaker, chorus or even ring modulation can help you find your singular language on the instrument, while giving your listeners chills, thrills and psychoactive spills. But while run-of-the-mill chorus pedals and off-the-shelf tremolo boxes are rarely more than one-trick ponies, the tone-packed Line 6 MM4 Modulation Modeler rides into town with a treasure trove of vintage analog-style modulation and modern tone manglers, while providing the 24-bit stereo signal path and true bypass demanded of the digital domain.

The MM4 features spot-on models based on* classic mod units like the brilliant optical tremolo found in the 1965 Fender® Deluxe Reverb® amp, the badass bias tremolo of the 1960 Vox® AC15, the legendary MXR® Phase 90 favored by Eddie Van Halen, and even the dripping phase effects of the funkadelic Mu-Tron® Bi-Phase. Analysis Plus 2 foot Clear Oval speaker cable

Upgrade your amp head and bottom with this speaker cable from Analysis Plus. Replace the cheap speaker cable you using this replacement. This 2′ 14 AWG clear oval speaker cable uses APs patent hollow oval geometry so none of the high frequency nuances are lost. Built of oxygen free copper, with a computer matched dielectric to provide proper impedance, this cable offers exceptional performance at a very affordable price.

The name says it all. Clear Oval is such a transparent cable, we’ve even made the outer jacket of clear PVC. Designed just like our highly-acclaimed Oval 12, but using 14 awg wire instead of 12 awg, Clear Oval offers much of the same performance but at a much lower price. It makes beautiful use of our patent-pending hollow oval woven design in which every conductor wire is statistically as close to the return current as every other wire. The result is evenly distributed current density that adds up to better signal transfer than conventional solid-conductor cable designs. Clear Oval is handcrafted with special high-purity oxygen free copper combined with a computer-matched dielectric to give the best possible response. It is factory terminated with crimped-on 1/4″-5/16″ gold-plated spade lug connectors, gold plated BFA style bananas or gold plated pin connectors. Analysis Plus – 12 foot Stereo Pro Yellow Flex Oval guitar cable

Analysis Plus STEREO Pro Yellow Flex Oval Instrument Cord – 12 feet
Analysis Plus isn’t kidding when they call this cable the Yellow Flex Oval, as it’s very pliable and flexible. That’s a good thing for a guitarist, as you tend to move around a bit during playing, and you don’t want to have your cable binding up and being a nuisance by distracting you away from your playing. So in a guitar cable—like people—flexible is cool. To get that extra flexibility Analysis Plus used an outer jacket of silicon rubber, which is probably the most flexible jacket material you could use next to silk or cotton, which wouldn’t be as durable for the working musician.
The Yellow Flex Oval uses 18-gauge oxygen free copper conductors woven in the oval design Analysis Plus is known for. One of the more interesting aspects of the Yellow Flex Oval cable is that it is a balanced design instead of a coaxial design like most (all?) other guitar cables. It also uses a Teflon dielectric, which I haven’t see used in a guitar cable before. Very nicely done all the way around.

Danelectro – 1956 U2 Reissue

Danelectro – 1956 U2 Reissue

8DE_56U2_1FB

Danelectro 1956 U2 Reissue

The Danelectro U2 is a dual-pickup hollow bodied guitar made of Masonite and was originally made from the years 1956 to 1958 but was re-issued in the late 90s.

The sound of a U2 is distinctive of the Danelectro guitar, coming from its lipstick pickup which when both selected are wired in series rather than the more standard parallel used today by most big brands. The construction and materials used by Danelectro in this period are quite unusual for guitar making. The U2’s body is made of a poplar wood frame sandwiched between a top and back made of Masonite. The side of the body was bound with cream colored vinyl.

This particular guitar is of the first run of 1956 reissues Made in Korea, finished in a ‘Blue Suede’ enamel that I believe was only available in the first run. The original Korean reissues are much better than the current Chinese models; 21 frets, thin neck, rosewood fret board, masonite semi-hollow, stack tone and volume controls, lipstick single coils, Danelectro tuners, no accessories included other than a key to the Danelectro hard shell case.

Used in Mint condition with mint Danelectro Hard Shell Case.

Dingwall – SJ4 With Hipshot Extender

Dingwall – SJ4 With Hipshot Extender

2DG_SJ_5079_1FB

Dingwall ʻSuper J Standardʼ 4-string

This bass shows just how good a ʻJazzʼ-type Bass can be!

The critical design-difference here is the ʻfanned fretsʼ – unlike the other Dingwall models (which use the fanned-fret design to lengthen the low strings), here, the fanned- fret design is used to make the high strings shorter. By reducing the tension of the high strings, the tone of the higher notes is much ʻfatterʼ than a traditional J-Bass, which allows the player to EQ the amp for clarity – this creates a beautiful, balanced tone, that traditional J-Bass players have always struggled to achieve.

Of course, every other aspect of this bass is engineered to help produce this balanced tone: the hum-canceling ʻSuper Fattyʼ pickups are designed for greater clarity from the low strings, while increasing the warmth from the high strings. Likewise, the tone chambers in the body are engineered to create more punch and presence, while creating a delightfully light, comfortable instrument!

The traditional Black body / Maple neck, combined with the beautiful Black Pearloid block inlays and matching pickguard, along with the simple, passive control-circuitry, create a great ʻvintageʼ vibe – but with more versatility than any traditional J-Bass can deliver. In particular, the ʻSeriesʼ setting on the rotary pickup-selector switch is like kicking in Turbo-Boost for your solo!

If youʼre player who has always felt that the traditional J-Bass was ʻITʼ, try a Dingwall Super J – it will make a ʻbelieverʼ out of you.

Dingwall – Lee Sklar Signature 5 String

Dingwall – Lee Sklar Signature 5 String

2DG_LS_5089_1FB

Lee Sklar Signature model – Dark Candy Purple

This amazing instrument has been designed and developed in close collaboration with of one of the greatest bassists working today – and it shows! In dozens of details, from the combination of woods, down to the fret-size, every aspect of this bass shows a sophisticated understanding of tone, along with total ʻplayabilityʼ and rock-solid reliability.

The new-for-2014 ʻDark Candy Purpleʼ finish almost looks black, until a light shines on it – then it really pops! This color is mysterious – subtle but exciting! The bassʼs body is made from two different woods – Ash and Alder – to create a ʻDual Densityʼ structure that separates and accentuates the best tonal qualities of the low and high strings. The upper side of the body (where the low strings are) is made from northern Ash, but the lower side of the body (where the high strings are) is made from low-density Alder. The higher-density Ash gives the low strings more precise highs and a tighter, more power low-end; the low-density Alder wood gives the high strings warmth, ʻsweetnessʼ, and fatter mids, without ʻmuddying upʼ the low strings.

The five-piece neck is made from from vertical-grain Maple, with a vertical-grain Wenge fingerboard. This combination provides the classic ʻvocalʼ tone found in traditional Maple-necked basses, with the definition and massive, ʻfatʼ mid-bass that Wenge is famous for – truly, a ʻmarriage made in heavenʼ. The top-quality woods, combined with carbon fiber-reinforcement, guarantees that this slim, ʻfastʼ neck will remain stable under the most demanding, ʻon-the-roadʼ conditions.

The Lee Sklar model is equipped with Dingwallʼs Z2 ʻSuper-Fattyʼ pickups paired with a Glockenklang three-band EQ circuit. Lee chose these pickups, because they combine clarity on the B and E strings with increased warmth and fatness on the D and G strings – this works hand-in-hand with the Dual-Density body, to maximize everything bassist want, across the entire range of the instrument.
The custom hardware (including the Hipshot ʻDrop-Aʼ tuner on the low B string) is all top-quality, and the instrument shows obsessive attention to detail, everywhere you look: just check out the magnetically-attached battery-compartment cover! No one else puts more thought into their instruments, than Sheldon Dingwall.

The result of all these thoughtful engineering decisions is – balance. This model shows exceptional clarity, with gutsy bottom-end and punch. It never sounds ʻthinʼ, even on the brightest preamp settings, and when playing ʻsub-sonicʼ Dub-style, the clarity and low- end ʻkickʼ is maintained. Truly, a ʻBass For All Seasonsʼ.

Dingwall – ABZ 5

Dingwall – ABZ 5

Dingwall ABZ 5 String with 3 Pickups

This 5-string Dingwall ABZ features an ‘IndigoBurst’ satin-finished swamp ash body, with a Wenge neck and fingerboard – one of our favorite combinations of tone woods. It’s also the lightest weight, of the entire Dingwall line. Its passive electronics cover the most popular traditional tones, but also go sonic places that no traditional bass can imagine. This three-pickup version of the ABZ is especially versatile: the middle pickup gives you the huge midrange ‘bark’ of the famed ‘Stingray’ bass, along with all the other great ABZ tones.

Dingwall’s amazing FD-3 4L pickups are unlike any other bass pickup on the market, with outstanding punch and sweet, ‘organic’ mids, along with sweet top-end, that’s never harsh. The ABZ’s simple passive electronics – a Master Volume, Rotary Pickup Selector, and Master Tone – create a wide variety of tones without the extra cost and noise of a preamp. This is especially welcome in the recording studio, where passive instruments shine!

The ABZ’s ultra-thin, lightweight finish is surprisingly durable, with a nice variety of color-options, while remaining relatively easy to produce – which saves you money! When you add-in the Custom Hipshot Tuners, custom-designed Bridge, counterbored headstock, 7.5ʺ″-16ʺ″ Compound Radius fretboard & special ‘Banjo’ frets, Neutrik locking input jack and Dunlop Strap-Lok strap pins (ALL of which come from the high-end Dingwall models), the ABZ-series basses represent the absolute top-value from Dingwall.

The Perfect Jazz-Rock Creative Tool

This superb instrument has been designed to produce the perfect blend of tones for the modern ʻhigh performanceʼ guitarist, especially in a Jazz-Rock context. This instrumentʼs amazing clean-tones are every bit as exciting as itʼs killer overdriven sounds! Unlike almost all ʻArch-Topʼ solidbody guitars, this oneʼs equipped with the outstanding Suhr ʻMLʼ single-coil pickups in the neck and middle positions. By eliminating the usual problems created by a neck-position humbucker – ʻmuddinessʼ, lack of detail, and a tendency to get ʻlost in the mixʼ – this guitar offers a far more useful tonal options, for most serious players.

The classic body-combination of Mahogany and a carved Flame Maple top adds sustain and sweetness, while the quarter-sawn Roasted Maple/Pau Ferro neck supplies speed, detail and ʻsnapʼ. The result? Outstanding tone and response, for everything from sustained, legato soloing to staccato Funk rhythm-work. This one really will ʻDo It Allʼ – and the amazing ʻlookʼ speaks for itself.

Spectacular Standard

This spectacular instrument has all the ʻclassicʼ Suhr features that has made them famous: the sleek, ʻStandardʼ body (with its superior balance and neck-access), the ʻbest in classʼ materials, the ʻstate of the industryʼ wood-shaping and fret-work, and the hand-wound Suhr pickups. Do we even need to say anything at all, about the guitarʼs looks? We didnʼt think so…

The Basswood/Quilted Maple body is John Suhrʼs personal favorite wood-combination, and itʼs easy to hear why: this combination, when combined with the Maple/Rosewood neck, gives a perfect, balanced ʻacousticʼ tone, which comes through beautifully when playing. When combined with the famous Doug Aldrich humbuckers, this gives a great, fat, ʻrippingʼ tone – perfect for Hard Rock and other modern styles, as well as providing a traditional, fat Jazz tone.

Subtle Beauty

We chose this guitar for players who want a guitar that can be ʻlow-keyʼ when necessary – it would be right at home on a ʻTux Gigʼ – but will really ʻpopʼ when hit with a spotlight. The ʻRoot Beer Metallicʼ finish has beautiful highlights, with incredibly fine metal-flakes, and the ʻscraped bindingʼ adds just the right ʻtouchʼ to the design.

The intelligent 5-way switching system that Suhr has designed, includes all the most important tones for your musical needs: you get both humbucker and single-coil sounds from the neck pickup, the classic ʻtwo-humbuckerʼ sound, the ʻtwo single-coilʼ sound (perfect for Funk and staccato rhythm work), and the ʻfull throttleʼ bridge humbucker.

Perfect Balance

This superb instrument offers a perfect balance of classic and modern features: the ʻ60s C Vintage Standardʼ neck-carve and the Standard body-shape create the beautiful ʻfeelʼ of a favorite Strat, in a more-comfortable, compact package, with better neck-access. The ʻChambered Swamp Ash / Maple topʼ body is a proven, winning combination, producing a great blend of warmth and ʻclankʼ; the Roasted Maple / Pau Ferro neck is also a well-tested combination, with beautiful detail, clarity and sustain.

The outstanding Suhr ʻMLʼ single-coil pickups are paired with the state-of-the-art Suhr ʻSSCIIʼ hum-canceling system, to give you true single-coil tone, with none of the 60Hz noise. The bridge ʻSSV+ʼ humbucker gives a nice balance between power and clarity, which works very well with the single-coils, to create a full palette of useful tones, whether youʼre playing pop, rock, funk, or even jazz. This is truly a ʻDo-It-Allʼ modern masterpiece.

We think that the finish-work speaks for itself: even among the ʻelite crowdʼ of Suhr guitars, this one is a stand-out, from every angle. One of the prettiest guitars weʼve ever offered to the public… What more can we say?

Split Personality

Letʼs go ʻBack to the Futureʼ! From the ultra-cool, ʻfuture-retroʼ Candy Lime finish, to the special combination of design-features, this very special instrument lives to create a range of musical possibilities, that you just never find in a typical SuperStrat or Metal ʻShred-Machineʼ.

The quarter-sawn Roasted Maple neck, paired with the Alder body, produce the perfect ʻrapid-fireʼ attack and ʻpopʼ that weʼve come to expect from this classic combination of woods; when combined with the fantastic Suhr ʻMLʼ single-coil pickups, this guitar can cover the full range of tones for Blues, Pop, Funk – and Rock!

However, this guitar can do much more than that! Unlike typical neck Humbuckers, the single-coils create tight, focused tones, even when using heavy overdrive, and the perfectly-balanced Suhr ʻSSV+ʼ bridge-pickup can go places – ʻHard-Rockʼ places – that no bridge single-coil can match. The wider nut combines with the ʻBetter than the Real Thingʼ Gotoh double-locking vibrato system, to give you the ʻroom to maneuverʼ and the outstanding tuning stability that you need, to go wherever your ʻeight-fingerʼ imagination takes you – and when you arrive, you can engage in whatever ʻMonster Metalʼ pyrotechnics you want!

Dingwall NG-2 Fly Yellow

Dingwall NG-2 Fly Yellow

3DGNG010671FB

This remarkable new Dingwall model is the result of collaboration between Sheldon Dingwall and Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood (bassist/producer in the progressive-metal band, ‘Periphery’), and is an exciting addition to the ‘Combustion’ line of basses. This Ferrari Yellow example sure puts you center-stage, in the best possible way!

The NG-2 model provides more aggressive, ‘in your face’ tones (compared with the standard Combustion models), due to its all-Maple neck construction, its new Darkglass ‘Tone Capsule’ preamp, and its special pickup configuration.

All the Combustion basses use a special four-position rotary pickup-selector switch, instead of the usual ‘blend’ control) – this design provides an extra, ‘series’ setting, which provides a dramatic increase in output, and a strong midrange-boost to the tone. The NG-2 doesn’t really have a ‘neck’ pickup – it has a ‘middle’ pickup, which is placed right next to its bridge pickup. This arrangement maximizes the NG-2’s midrange ‘bark’ and ‘aggression’, in Nolly’s favorite ‘series’ setting.

The new Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp (designed in consultation with Dingwall) offers both low- and high-midrange controls (500 Hz and 2.8 kHz), which provides the player with a remarkable range of outstanding basstones, from every pickup-setting.

The NG-2 shares most of the superior construction details with the standard
Combustion models:
• Five-piece Quartersawn Canadian Maple neck w/ Maple fingerboard
• Solid light Ash body
• True Dingwall pickups
• Hipshot Products ‘UltraLight’ tuners
• Individual ‘single-string’ bridges for detailed, ‘woody’ tone.

Both the standard Combustion model and the new NG-2 are outstanding
basses, offering amazing value to the serious bassist. The hardest question

Dingwall Blonde Combustion Bass

Sheldon Dingwall has created the ‘Combustion’ group of basses, to deliver the signature tone, playability, and other performance advantages that Dingwall is famous for, at the best possible price. As such, the Combustion 5-string offers the highest price/performance value of any professional-quality 5-string bass, available today – period. This ‘Transparent White’ instrument offers ‘classic’ good looks, recalling the great basses from the early days of Pop and Rock music.

These instruments boast remarkable construction details:
• Five-piece Quartersawn Canadian Maple necks
• Solid Alder or light Ash bodies
• True Dingwall pickups
• Active EQ circuitry by EMG
• Hipshot Products ‘UltraLight’ tuners
• Individual ‘single-string’ bridges for detailed, natural, ‘woody’ tone.
Using the Novax ‘fanned-fret’ multi-scale design, these instruments offer the same superb low-frequency punch, clarity, and superior tuning-accuracy that Dingwall has brought to the electric-bass world for decades. The combination of this breakthrough innovation, along with custom-designed
pickups, electronics and hardware, produces a level of performance that has
to be heard, to be believed.

Across their entire product line, Dingwall offers innovative, tested, developments that reject the usual, ‘good-enough’ engineering that the rest of the industry accepts. As an example, just look at their battery compartment! The rest of the industry uses either a cheap, fragile, ‘pop-open’ plastic battery-box, or an ‘old-school’ cover-plate that requires a screwdriver to access the batteries. Instead, Dingwall’s unique design uses a magnetic cover that never ‘lets go’, but can be opened in seconds – without any tools. You will find similar ‘obsessive’ engineering, everywhere you look.

The Vintage Strat – Perfected

People have been customizing Strats for more than 50 years – as new technology and new materials become available, the state of the art moves forward. This instrument uses the finest materials currently available, to create an ultra-versatile instrument – offering you the perfected ‘Strat’ experience.

The combination of a lightweight Alder body and a gorgeous Roasted Maple / Indian Rosewood neck gives this instrument a superbly complex ‘acoustic’ response, and Roasted Maple is ultra-stable – this neck just won’t ‘move around’. Thanks to the great Suhr ‘V60’ pickups, the classic ‘vintage Strat’ tones are all there. The essential ‘Strat neck-pickup’ tone (perhaps the most important single sound on a Strat) is punchy, touch-sensitive and articulate, with all the chime and ‘clank’ that makes a great Strat so special. The extra ‘blend’ control (the third knob) allows you to use all seven possible pickup combinations, and the Suhr ‘SSCII’ hum-canceling system eliminates hum perfectly – these Strat pickups make less hum than most humbuckers!

Of course, all the technical ‘details’ are in place: the Suhr locking tuners and customized Gotoh vibrato-bridge stay in tune as well as anything this side of a ‘Floyd’ – and re-stringing’s a breeze! The ‘Soft Medium V’ neck creates a fantastic ‘vintage’ feel, but it features a 10”-14” compound fingerboard radius, with ‘heavy’ stainless steel frets: this guarantees a level of playability that a vintage Strat player can only dream of…

Look no farther – this is truly the ‘vintage Strat’, perfected.

These new 4-string models offer the 4-string bassist all the advantages of the of the Combustion models. As such, the Combustion 4-string offers the highest price/performance value of any professional-quality 4-string bass, available today.

This bass, with its desirable Rosewood fingerboard and transparent ‘natural’-finish Ash body, evokes the great look of traditional basses from the ‘70s – but with the superior Dingwall performance. What’s more, the Rosewood fingerboard is no longer available on the Combustion basses. This is the Last One – so, Buy It Now!

This instruments boasts remarkable construction details:

  • Five-Piece Quartersawn Canadian Maple / Rosewood Neck
  • Solid Light Ash Body
  • Genuine Dingwall FD-3N Pickups
  • Active EQ Circuitry By EMG
  • Hipshot-Designed Tuners

Individual ‘single-string’ bridges for natural, ‘woody’ tone

Using the Novax ‘fanned-fret’ multi-scale design, these instruments offer the same superb low-frequency punch, clarity, and superior tuning-accuracy that Dingwall has brought to the electric-bass world for decades. The combination of this breakthrough innovation, along with custom-designed pickups, electronics and hardware, produces a level of performance that has to be heard, to be believed.

Across their entire product line, Dingwall offers innovative, tested, developments that reject the usual, ‘good-enough’ engineering that the rest of the industry accepts. As an example, just look at their battery compartment! The rest of the industry uses either a cheap, fragile, ‘pop open’ plastic battery-box, or an ‘old-school’ cover-plate that requires a screwdriver to access the batteries. Instead, Dingwall’s unique design uses a durable ‘magnetic’ cover that never ‘lets go’, but can be opened in seconds – without any tools. You will find similar ‘obsessive’ engineering on a Dingwall, everywhere you look.

Suhr Pro Series Classic C2 – Sunburst

Suhr Pro Series Classic C2 – Sunburst

Suhr Pro Series Guitars

The Suhr ‘Pro Series’ guitars have been created with one goal: to build a true ‘workhorse’ for professional musicians, by offering the amazing Suhr quality and attention to detail, for a very reasonable price. In the process, Suhr has taken the high-end “boutique” guitar market by storm.

No corners are cut, in the process of producing a Pro Series guitar: they are made side-by-side with the Suhr Custom guitars, in California; using hand-selected woods, top-quality hardware, and the same hand-wound Suhr pickups. Of course, the Plek System fret-leveling is a standard feature on the Pro Series guitars, just as it is on Suhr’s Custom guitars. Suhr limits the finish-options, eliminates custom inlay, and standardizes the features of the Pro Series guitars, so that these instruments can be made more efficiently, in small ‘batches’. This is how Suhr can offer state-of-the-art quality, for ‘off the shelf’ prices.

With the Suhr Pro Series, working musicians can expect to save hundreds of dollars on their ‘dream guitar’, with no compromises in engineering or workmanship. If you’ve been looking for master-built “Custom Shop” quality, without the hype and inflated price, the Pro Series delivers!

Suhr Surf Green Custom “T” with 1 piece Birdseye Maple Neck – Signed

Suhr Custom Classic T – The Perfect 21st-Century Tele

People have been customizing Teles for more than 60 years – as new technology and new materials become available, the state of the art moves forward. This instrument uses the finest materials currently available, to create an ultra-versatile instrument – offering you the perfected ‘Tele plus Strat’ experience.

The combination of a lightweight, fully contoured Swamp Ash body and a gorgeous one-piece Roasted Birdseye Maple neck gives this instrument a beautiful, complex ‘acoustic’ response, with superb ‘chime’ – the result is outstanding! Thanks to the great Suhr ‘Classic T’ pickups, the essential ‘Tele’ tones are all there. The middle ‘V60’ Strat pickup is punchy, touch-sensitive and articulate, with all the chime and ‘clank’ that makes a great Strat so special. The tone control’s push/pull switch allows you to use all seven possible pickup combinations, and the Suhr ‘SSCII’ hum-canceling system eliminates hum perfectly – you really do get ‘the best of all possible worlds’.

Of course, all the technical ‘details’ are in place: the customized Tele-bridge intonates perfectly, and the Suhr locking tuners keep the guitar in tune – and make re-stringing a breeze. The ‘Soft Medium V’ neck creates a fantastic ‘vintage’ feel, but it features a 10”-14” compound fingerboard radius, with ‘heavy’ stainless steel frets: this guarantees a level of playability that a vintage Tele player can only dream of…

This guitar truly ‘has it all’ – it’s a shop favorite!

Guthrie Govan Rasmus (designed by Suhr) – with factory Guthrie Govan headstock signature

Guthrie Govan Rasmus (designed by Suhr) – with factory Guthrie Govan headstock signature

Rasmus guitars (designed by Suhr)

We have a used Guthrie Govan Rasmus in mint condition that we just received. The included Suhr gig bag is in very good condition because of a small tear in the piping that could be repaired.

These instruments were designed to offer the outstanding playability and tone of Suhr instruments, at a price within the reach of any serious guitarist.

Suhr shipped all the critical building blocks for these guitars – the neck and body woods, as well as the Suhr hand-wound pickups – to a small, elite production-house in China, where the bodies and necks are built, lacquered, and the guitars are wired and assembled.

After the completed instruments were returned to Suhr, they were inspected, the frets were plek’d, and each guitar was fine-tuned, before being shipped to Suhr dealers.

We believe that these instruments offered more ‘bang for the buck’ than any other new solid-body electric guitar offered.

Suhr Modern – One Piece Perota Body with Pau Ferro Neck & Board – Oiled Finish

Suhr Modern – One Piece Perota Body with Pau Ferro Neck & Board – Oiled Finish

Amazing Chime

A very cool, USED, sorta / kinda ‘Reb Beach Modern’ prototype (we think)…

This guitar has a one-piece oil-finished Perota Body and sports a Pau Ferro neck and fingerboard. The Pau Ferro neck adds amazing harmonic response to the guitar’s ‘acoustic’ signature – ‘sweep harmonics’ and ‘pinch harmonics’ just explodeout of this instrument! Delicate finger-style picking creates powerful ‘chime’, without being thin or shrill – in part, because of the warmth and low-mid ‘sweetness’ supplied by the Perota body.

The neck has 24 ‘heavy’ stainless steel frets, with a 10” – 14” compound-radius fingerboard. By the way, even with the Gotoh ‘Floyd’-type vibrato-system, the guitar weighs less than 7 pounds! It’s just so comfortable and super-playable…

You can see signs of loving pick-strokes from years past, and some circular ‘fingernail’ wear-marks around the control-knobs. However, the neck looks and plays fantastic; there’s no fret-wear (gotta love those stainless-steel frets!), and overall, the guitar is in excellent condition – it just needs a new home.

A factory Suhr hard-shell case (in ‘new’ condition) is included.

Suhr Modern – 80’s Antique Neon Drip w/ ‘Chrome’ Hard-Shell Case & Custom Riot Pedal

Suhr Modern – 80’s Antique Neon Drip w/ ‘Chrome’ Hard-Shell Case & Custom Riot Pedal

Suhr Modern – 80’s Antique Neon Drip

‘80s Shredding Machine

Here we have a used Suhr Modern 80’s Neon drip ‘shredding’ machine. At Nuts and Saddles we tend to be a rather conservative lot: We don’t have much hair and certainly do not look good in spandex – so, I guess that’s why it’s up for sale…

All kidding aside, this is a FUN guitar—period. The neck and frets are as new, and the body and hardware are lightly antiqued—so it’s got ‘factory’ dings and scratches—but it’s original ‘Chrome’ case is MINT.

The swamp-Ash body means the guitar weighs-in at a respectable 7.5 pounds; the Gotoh ‘Floyd’ vibrato allows massive ‘dive-bombs’ that still come back up in tune; it’s equipped with two ‘massive’ Doug Aldrich humbuckers, a master volume, and a 3-way switch.

What more do you need, to ROCK?

Includes a custom “antiqued” Suhr Riot Pedal.
